ABSTRACT

The study examined the perceived impact of online teaching and learning on Adult Education students in the University of Benin. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. 

The descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The population of the study comprised of nine and forty (940) full time students of the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin. A sample of 94 students were randomly selected from the population. Questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. The data collated were analyzed using descriptive statistics, involving simple percentage, means and standard deviation.

The findings from the study revealed that Online teaching and learning mode provide the students flexibility to study at their convenient time. That online teaching and learning enable the students to take tests and submit assignment electronically. That there are available technologies that enable the students to take tests and submit assignments electronically. It was revealed that the respondent’s greed that study group focus on strength, abilities and potential rather than problems. On the basis of the findings, the researcher recommended that the students perceive on-line learning positively. Instruction of higher learning should be well funded so that they can invent in ICT in teaching/learning. Government should set a standard for institutions to get computer and internet facilities to enhance effective e-learning process in the higher institutions in Nigeria.
