ABSTRACT
This study was designed to find out perceived benefit of health education on pregnant women attending ante-natal care (university of benin teaching hospital, benin city edo state) . The purpose of this study was to understand the perceived benefit of health education women during antenatal, three research questions were raised for appropriate research work to be done.
The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study and a simple random technique was used to select the Study sample of one hundred (100) subjects, the instrument for data collection was the questionnaire designed by the researcher and built around the research questions. The research instrument was validated by two experts in the department of Health Safety and Environmental Education as well as my project supervisor. The researcher and two other trained research assistants administered the instrument and retrieved them immediately after completion; data collected was analyzed using frequency counts and simple percentages.
The findings from the Study showed that ;Health Education has indeed great benefit on pregnant women attending antenatal in the university of Benin teaching hospital, the extent to which women attend antenatal is not too high but a higher percentage of those that antenatal have easy pregnancy journey and safe delivery. Antenatal should be made compulsory for pregnant women in all hospitals to ensure safety of mother and child, antenatal should be done in a conducive environment for women for easy assimilation of what is been taught to the women.
