ABSTRACT
Marriage is a union between a man and a woman, with the aim of procreativity and continuity of a family lineage. In the epistle of St. Paul, marriage is seen as a necessary end but not absolutely compulsory for more attention to be given to the work of God. In Benin tradition, marriage is a sine qua non for the continuity of the human race. The challenges associated with marriage in the biblical and Benin tradition are divorce, celibacy, childlessness, domestic violence, infidelity and so on. The research made use of historical, analytical and comparative methods. In the course of the research, books, journals, internets materials and so on were utilised for the actualization of this project. The research amongst others recommends that there should be mutual respect, forgiveness and love to avoid the high rate of marriage dissolution (divorce) in the society.
