ABSTRACT

This essay is undertaken to portray patriarchal oppression in its monstrous glory which is used to directly or indirectly constrain women in civic and domestic life. From the study carried out it is obvious that the patriarchy in Nawa El Saadawi's Woman at Point Zero and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Purple Hibiscus exploits and damages the women characters in the text.
