PARENTING STYLES OF PARENTS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNERS IN BENIN CITY

ABSTRACT

The study parenting style of parents of early childhood learners in Benin City Area OF Edo state. The focus was on parenting style of parents,differences in parenting styles of parents in public and private schools and variation in parenting style according to socio economic status of parents . The population sample for the study consisted of fifty parents in public and private schools in Benin City, as purposive sampling technique was carried out from different private and public schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. A descriptive survey research design was used and A structured questionnaire,in collecting information from respondents.The responses were collected and analyzed, using mean and standard deviation. The findings showed that the prevalent parenting styles in Benin city is Authoritative .and also there was no variation in parenting style based on the social economic status of the parents.
