ABSTRACT
This study investigated parenting style as a determinant of the academic achievements among secondary school students in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, to achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and were hypothesized and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The descriptive survey design was employed in this study.The population for the study consists of one thousand, two hundred and fifty-one (1,251) senior secondary school three (SSS3) students in twenty-eight (28) public secondary schools in Ovia NorthEast Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size was made up of one hundred and ten (110) respondents randomly selected from ten (10) public secondary schools. The instrument for data collection was a self-structured questionnaire titled Parenting Style and Academic Achievement Questionnaire (PSAQ) which was distributed to the participant. Hypotheses one to three was answered using pearson moment correlation statistics, while fishers z-test was used to test hypothesis four. Hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance.
