This study examines the significant role of parental influence on the moral development of Christian youth in Benin and its broader implications for society. Drawing on qualitative data, the research explores the dynamics of parental guidance, religious teachings, and societal influences shaping the moral compass of young Christians. Through interviews, and case studies, the study investigates how parental involvement and religious upbringing impact the moral decisions and behaviors of youth within the Christian community.
Findings suggest that parental influence plays a crucial role in shaping the moral values, beliefs, and behaviors of Christian youth in Benin. The study highlights the importance of parental modeling, communication, and religious education in fostering a strong moral foundation among young individuals. Additionally, societal factors such as peer pressure, media influence, and cultural norms are examined as potential challenges to parental efforts to instill moral values.
The implications of the study extend beyond individual families to the broader societal context. It underscores the critical role of parents as primary agents of moral socialization and advocates for greater support and resources for parental education and empowerment. Furthermore, the findings emphasize the significance of collaboration between families, religious institutions, and community stakeholders in promoting positive moral development among youth and fostering a morally upright society.
