ABSTRACT
The study examined parental factors as determinants of student academic performance in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study and the population of the study was six (6) selected Public Senior Secondary School students in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State. Random sampling technique was used to select the sample size of 481 secondary school students which was 30% of the entire student’s population from the six selected schools. Self–developed questionnaires were administered to the students, while the teachers were interviewed and the data were gathered and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Findings showed that parents’ level of education, home environment and parent’s socio-economic status influence student academic performance. This study offers possible recommendations as solution to help students who are underachievers of academic performance in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria.
