ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at assessing the relationship between Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and pupils’ achievement in public primary school in Egor local government area, Benin City, Edo. To achieve the purpose of the study, five research questions were raised and examined. Data was collected from one hundred (100) randomly selected from 10 public primary school in Egor local government area in Benin city. The questionnaire and checklist was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using descriptive statistics and mean score. The population of the study comprised of all the teachers in public primary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size was made of 25% of public primary schools, which amounted to 10 public primary schoolss. To ensure the content and face validity of the instrument, the draft copy of the questionnaire was given to the project supervisor and two researchers in the department of educational management for proper modification. Based on the supervional corrections, the final draft was prepared and used for data collection. To ascertain the reliability of the instrument; the researcher conducted a trial testing with 20 public primary school teachers that were not part of the study. 20 copies of the validated instrument was trial tested to generate data used to determine the internal consistency of the instrument. A coefficient of 0.68 was established.
