ABSTRACT

Palynological analysis of the GRE well intervals (6140 – 9020 feet). 13 samples from 6140, 6320, 6440, 6680, 6920, 7280, 7460, 7580, 7700, 7940, 8420, 9020, 9200, 9320 feet were analyzed, thirty-two (32) different Palynomorphs species. Zonocostites ramonae and Acrostichum aureum was abundant and consistent in the entire sample studied. The age of the selection analyzed ranges from Middle to Late Miocene. Terrestrial (Rainforest) – Coastal (Mangrove/Inner Neritic) Environment marked the studied interval. The GRE well floras correlate with the Broad Pan – Tropical Echitricolporites spinosus of Germeraad et al., 1968 and the P700 ones of Evamy et al., 1978. P740 - P770 and P780 subzones of Evamy et al., 1978 was proposed for the studied intervals of GRE well. Based on the depositional environment, there could be both a fall and rise in sea level during the deposition of sediments, indicating regression and transgression of the sea in the basin.
