ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the influence of organizational structure on organizational performance in University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. The study made use of survey research design of lecturers in the University of Benin in Ugbowo Campus, Benin City, Edo State. The study used Bill Golden techniques to arrive at the expected sample size of 90 respondents. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistical method and Chi-Square test. The study revealed that there is no relationship between level of education of subordinates and organizational structure. It was also revealed that virtual structure was rarely used in the organization. Finally, it was established that there are certain barriers to successful implementation of an organizational structure in the institution. Thus, study recommends that management should critically analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization by ensuring proper structures are put in place and implemented with the aim of achieving set goal
