ABSTRACT

Pregnancy is an important and delicate phase in a woman’s life and their overall health which can be affected by poor oral hygiene is a major concern of oral health practitioners

A sample size of 162 pregnant women attending antenatal clinic in a the University of Benin Teaching Hospital were used. A stratified questionnaire focusing on the knowledge, attitude and oral health practices was filled by all respondents, with more than 50% practicing poor oral hygiene.

An assessment of the general oral health status and practice of good oral hygiene among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic in the university of Benin Teaching hospital. This is the main objective of our research, recommendations were made to aid in the improvement of these good oral health practices.
