ABSTRACT

Weld property has been subjected to enhancement, embarked upon by continuousresearch by investigators. This has become a global challenge, as poor qualityweldment can cause uncontrollable accidents. Therefore, efforts have been put inplaceto applyrobustoptimizationmethodsneededquality.

In this study, the WASPAS method was applied to optimize the input and outputparameters. The optimization process was done by ranking the responses. FromapplyingtheWASPASmethod,theoptimuminputprocessparametersare,acurrent of 150A, a voltage of 22V, a wire diameter of 3.2mm and a gas flow rate of14L/min. The optimized responses are impact energy of 115J and bead width of9.10mm. These input parameters were used to produce weldment 8, which possesthese optimum responses. It has been shown that the WASPAS method can be used to optimize welding process parameters.
