ABSTRACT

This report is solely and more accurately focused on the activities and experiments carried out during the course of my project work in the faculty of Engineering; it highlights detailed information with respect to multi attribute utility methods, It also shed light on the limitations encountered, and some recommendations to tackle these limitations. It dealt with the selection of the best process parameters so as to produce quality welds and the optimization of heat input and weld penetration. The materials used were a 80mm by 40mm mild steel plate of 10mm thickness and a tungsten electrode. I arrived the conclusion that the most optimal value of the process parameter are Current(110A) ,Voltage(23V), Welding speed (2.25mm/s) and gas flow rate(10L/min) and they are used to give the most optimal output parameter (heat input and weld penetration).
