In this vein, 20 copies of the instrument were administered to the respondents who were not part of the target population. Thereafter, their responses on the two occasions was collated and correlated to determine its correlation coefficient using Pearson product movement correlation statistics the instruments yielded a coefficient value of 0.72 which shows that the instrument was reliable.
Based on the findings of this study, it is concluded that online teaching and learning at UNIBEN face significant infrastructural and engagement challenges. While students and lecturers recognize the benefits of online learning in improving academic performance and encouraging independent study, issues such as poor internet connectivity, inadequate digital devices, and limited digital literacy hinder its full effectiveness. Furthermore, while institutional support exists, power outages and insufficient digital resources remain key obstacles. Therefore, addressing these technological gaps and implementing engagement-driven strategies are crucial for enhancing online education at UNIBEN. it was recommended that: UNIBEN should invest in improving internet connectivity and providing more digital learning resources. Digital literacy training programs should be made mandatory for students and lecturers to enhance online learning participation. The university should develop initiatives to improve student engagement, such as interactive online discussions and collaborative learning activities. Government and educational institutions should prioritize stable electricity supply to support online education.
