ABSTRACT
Nollywood has become a model for resolving different forms of crisis that occur in the society. Marital crisis is one of the commonest issues faced in human existence. This study examined the Potentials of Nollywood movies as models for the resolution of marital conflict using the films “Mr & Mrs” and “Love is war” as an instrument of research where the movies were content analyzed as it showcased different forms of crisis faced by couples in marriages as well as the resolution strategies adopted. A review of literature related to the study was conducted where conceptual and theoretical frameworks were developed in order to ascertain the proposition that Nollywood films reflect different facets of the society one of which is marital crisis, and how these films constitute models that aid in inculcating positive values in marital unions by showcasing different ways of preventing, handling and resolving such crisis. The study therefore concluded that Nollywood films are essential means of resolving crisis in homes. The study also recommended that since films are instrumental in marital crisis resolution, filmmakers should do well to give more attention to various challenges faced by couples as well as proffer solutions that would be used as a models for marital crisis resolution.
