Picralima nitida (Apocynaceae) is an African pepper tree known for its medicinal benefits these medicinal plants include various types of plants used in herbalism. These medicinal plants consider a rich resource of bioactive ingredients such as tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and phenols which can be used in drug synthesis and development. Picralima nitida is considered one of the many examples of therapeutic plants with great therapeutic potential, among the therapeutic potentials reported for these plants are antimicrobial, antimalarial, antiinflammatory and analgesics functions. This paper aims to investigate the phytochemical analysis and Antioxidant capacity of the aqueous and Ethanol extract of Picralima nitida stem bark using standard methods. The study determined the in vitro radical scavenging potentials of Picralima nitida on Nitric oxide (NO). The ethanol extract of P. nitida stem bark exhibited strong antioxidant activities. These findings suggest that picralima nitida stem bark has significant potential as a natural source of antioxidants and essential minerals, which could be useful in developing functional foods and neoceutic.
