ABSTRACT
This study tried to introduce to the reader what drug abuse is all about as the researcher's work is on drug addiction and mental health being a study of Ikpoba Okha Local government Area, Edo state. The topic of this project was comprehensively and elaborately introduced in this chapter by taking critical look on what substance and drug abuse is, what causes drug abuse and it's relationship with the society. This chapter also dealt with the purpose of the study which emphasized on the different types of substance and drug being abused. A statement of the problem and definition of the terms were also highlighted. The researcher also reviewed the related literatures of the subject matter which includes the concept of drugs abuse, classifications of drugs, signs and symptoms of drug addiction, implications of drug abuse and preventive measures to take on drug abuse and a lot more as well as the reviews of Theories and the Theoretical framework. The methodology consists of the techniques employed by the researcher to carry out the work . 100 questionnaire where administered and collected, for analysis.
