SUMMARY

The basis for this research is to examine newspapers framing of editorial contents in 2022, a case study of Guardian and Vanguard Newspapers. The researcher adopted the content analysis research design to effectively collate data from the editorials of Guardian and Vanguard newspapers. The research analyzed 258 editorials of both Guardian and Vanguard newspapers editions, as determined by the Taro Yamani formula. Quantitative method of analysis, which involves the use of tables and simple percentage was used by the researcher to present gathered data. The objectives of the study are to : Identify the issues presented in the editorials of Guardian and Vanguard newspapers. To overview the institutions and personalities that attracted the focus of the editorials in Guardian and Vanguard Newspapers. To analyse the types of frames used in constructing the editorials of Guardian and Vanguard newspapers. Lastly, to determine the direction of framing of issues presented in the editorials of Guardian and Vanguard newspapers. The study was anchored on three major theories which are: Agenda setting theory, Social responsibility theory, and Framing theory.
