ABSTRACT
This study titled the "New Testament Perspective On Tithing And Its Implications For Contemporary Christians In Benin City, Edo State" was aimed at examining the New Testament's teaching on tithing and its effects on Christians in Benin city. This has become necessary due to the various and conflicting teachings on the subject matter. The method employed was historical and analytical. Data collection was from both secondary and primary sources which includes interview from contemporary Christians amongst others. The study revealed that the New Testament teaches that tithing is an obsolete practice that has no foundation in the new covenant. Based on the findings, it was recommended amongst others that contemporary Christians should learn to give out of love for the expansion of the gospel and not out of compulsion. However, this should be done with a godly heart, devoid of selfishness, and out of their own freewill rather than coercive means.
