ABSTRACT
Negative influence of Nigerian Music on society; it goes a long way in serving as an eye opener and educating members of the society especially the youth. The researcher examined the extent to which Naira Marley's songs influences the society negatively through his lyrical contents and video coverage. The study was limited to residents on campus and off campus. The objectives of the study were to point out the negative influence of this particular artist's song on the society. The survey method of data analysis was used majorly while a brief content analysis was made to examine contents from the songs and how they have influenced the society; using a questionnaire with 13 major items which were administered to 50 respondents. The findings pointed out the fact that this particular artist's songs have influenced the society negatively. It was also gathered that the Governments and Censors boards are not as strict as they are supposed to be. The study therefore recommended that Government, organizations and stakeholders to whom the future of the youth is dependent must ban and regulate things that go against acceptable social norms.
