ABSTRACT

This research examines Negation in Ọzubụlụ dialect of Igbo and how negative markers are formed, the classes of negative marker in the lect, it also investigate the nature of negative marker. To accomplish this objective previous literature related to this research was reviewed. The data obtained for this research was analysed using descriptive analysis. The effect of this work is for student who has interest on the dialect.

       This work was able to account for all the negative markers in Ọzụbụlụ and it was able to account for how it occur in a sentence, what causes the occurrence and why they occur and the syllable structures of the negative marker and it also investigate on the inherent negative markers, the important of tone in negation. The data was thoroughly analysed and the purpose of this research is to debunk the limited analogy of /-ghi,ma,na/ as the only negative marker in Igbo. The background study of Ozubulu was discussed and the location of the people and literature review of previous work on negation was made to known what others scholars has said or worked on in negation, data presentation was made and the classification of the data. A critical analysis of the data presented was also made, conclusion and summary was made.
