ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the N-Power Programme and the reduction of crime rate among the youth in Ovia North East. The objectives are; to examine the impact of N-Power towards crime, to determine the prospect of N-power on youth Unemployment, to ascertain how N-Power Programmes alleviate poverty, to identify the problems/solution affecting N- programmes towards poverty alleviation in Ovia north east Local government Survey design was adopted for this study. The population are 153,849 in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State with sample size of 100 respondents. Data collected were presented quantitatively using frequency tables, percentages and mean in analysis the data. findings of the study revealed that N-Power program has contributed significantly to reducing crime rates in Ovia North East Local Government Area, N-Power beneficiaries, through skill development, are less likely to resort to criminal behavior. It is recommended that government has a duty to fight poverty amongst its youth population, making sure that every youth have the benefit of living above the poverty line. Also, an integral part of the social contract and objectives of every government is to enhance the standard of living of its citizenry by creating decent employment opportunities, fostering inclusive growth, eliminate social exclusion, thus reducing poverty levels amongst its citizenry; particularly the youths.
