MUSIC AS A TOOL FOR SOCIAL ACTIVISM: BURNA BOY'S '20:10:20' AND CHIKE'S 'WAHALA DEY’ AS PARADIGMS

ABSTRACT

 This project examined the use of music as a tool for social activism in Nigeria, focusing on of Chike’s “Wahala Dey” and Burna Boy’s “20:10:20”. The research discussed the importance of music as a form of expression and the role it has played in Nigerian history in mobilizing and inspiring people to take action. It is clear that even in generations to come, music will remain a tool for social activism.  Data for the research was derived from secondary research methodology and textual analysis of the songs. The project concludes that music can be an effective tool for social activism, but it must be used responsibly.
