ABSTRACT
This research work examined the study on “Music and Dance in Benin City: A Study on Change and Adaptation”. It sheds light on the rich cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom and its evolution over time. Through the exploration of music and dance, the project unearthed the deep-rooted traditions of the pre-colonial Benin Kingdom, highlighting the significance of these art forms in the cultural, social, and religious spheres of the community. The traditional music of Benin City is characterized by rhythmic drumming, melodic patterns and call-and-response singing. The traditional dancers are energetic and involves complex footwork and body movements this performance is often accompanying the religious ceremonies royal events and social gatherings.
