ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to culture and multiply Trichoderma harianum. The experiment was carried out at the Department of Crop Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. The experiment was laid out on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 10 replications using a treatment of corn cobs and spent mushroom waste mixed on a 1 to 1 ratio (1:1). Results obtained showed that the treatment was not significant for the multiplication of Trichoderma harianum. However, when recovering the organism from the substrate, a few colonies were formed. The results suggest that in selecting a substrate for the multiplication of Trichoderma, it is advisable to use a  more suitable substrate like corn cobs for the multiplication of Trichoderma harianum.
