ABSTRACT

The focus of this study is to examine Multinational Corporation and Socio Economic Development in Nigeria using the activities of MTN in Onitsha as Case Study 2000-2020.TheroleandImportanceofMultinationalCorporationscanbe overemphasized in the modern world. In fact, they are seen as the glue that holds the world economy together. This is a true description of the activities and role played by Multinational Corporations in the modern world. A Multinational Corporation is a business that operates and conducts business activities in more than one country. A typical Multinational Corporation normally functions with the headquarters based in one country, while other facilities are based in locations in other countries. They enter host countries in different ways and different strategies.

Today there are several Multinational Corporations operating in Nigeria with so many impacts on the Nigeria Social Economic Development. One of such prominent Multinational Corporation is Mobile Telephone Network (MTN). It is on this note that this study examined the role of MTN as a tool for Socio Economic Development in Nigeria using the activities of MTN in Onitsha as Case Study. It is instrumental to note that the problem of the telecommunication industry in Nigeria in the 1990s created opportunity for the coming of MTN.
