ABSTRACT

This study investigated the influence of motivation on secondary school teachers' job satisfaction in Egor Local Government Area (LGA), Edo State, Nigeria. Employing a survey design with 120 participants from five schools, the research examined the impact of two motivational factors: participatory decision-making and provision of material/non-material inducements.

The findings reveal significant positive correlations between both factors and teacher job satisfaction. Teachers' involvement in decision-making fosters a sense of ownership and commitment, while incentives like timely salary increases, housing loans, and subsidized healthcare positively impact job satisfaction.

These results highlight the importance of prioritizing teacher motivation for educational leaders and policymakers. By implementing strategies that encourage participation in decision-making and offer a balanced incentive structure, school environments can be made more conducive to teacher well-being and ultimately, improved educational quality.
