Abstract
This study examines the morpho-semantic analysis of Igbo personal names with chí/chúkwū.It aims to investigate Igbo personal names that incorporate the elements "Chi" or "Chukwu" to explore their morphological derivation and semantic property .It also on focused on accounting of the wordposition of chí/chúkwū personal name and there semantic classification. Data for this research was elicited from oral interviews, recorded audio from competent native speakers and published and unpublished source. The theoretical framework abducted for the research is Basic Linguistic Theory as proposed by Robert M. W. Dixon. The study further revealed that compounding is used for the formation of some chi/chukwu personal names, the word-position for the chi/chukwu are word-initial, word-middle and word-final.
