ABSTRACT

Stranded natural gas are gases found in remote location where its transportation is not economical or gases found in reservoir with low amount of gas. Stranded natural gas can be converted to fertilizer through the Haber Bosch process. In this process Nitrogen react with hydrogen to form ammonia. Monetization of natural gas usually requires large volume of natural except for natural gas to fertilizer. Making the monetization of natural to fertilizer the best option for small volume of stranded natural gas. This project was written to show the massive opportunities that lies in the monetization on natural gas, a case study of natural gas to fertilizer. Although, there are a lot of ways to monetize natural gas which includes; gas to methane, gas to liquid, gas to power, and many other but this project focus on monetization of natural gas using fertilizer as a case study. Haber Bosch process has been developed for the production of ammonia, when nitrogen and hydrogen are reacted together but the hydrogen quantity is too small for large scale production. Large scale production requires, large amount of hydrogen, which natural gas has in abundant. Aspen Hysys model was use to simulate how the fertilizer plant will look like, the various components were chosen and an economic analysis was carried to evaluate the feasibility of the project. After the economic analysis, it was discovered that 5500Mcf of gas can produce 122,900
