ABSTRACT

Heavy metals are present in leachate-contaminated soil at dump sites, endangering both human health and the ecosystem. In this study, an effort was made to look at how leachate from a dumpsite moved through the soil and to create a model for it utilizing central composite design. Soil samples were collected at various horizontal distances of 0.34m, 2m, 6m, 10m, and 11.65m respectively, from the Oluku dumpsite. Before analysis, laboratory procedures were conducted to help the soil samples digest. To ascertain the lead concentration, various samples were analyzed over a range of distances and times. The transportation of the pollutant was modelled using Central Composite Design to show the passage of pollutants through the soil (CCD). At a distance of 2 meters and during a period of 120 minutes, the ideal lead concentration was discovered to be 0.74 g/mol. It demonstrates that the source has the highest concentration of lead (Pb). The study demonstrates how leachate from dump sites affects the soil's physical characteristics. The research highlights the need for more investigation to stop heavy metal pollution of soil.
