ABSTRACT
Mojeaga herbal remedy is a polyherbal product use for the treatment of anemia and to boost the immune system . it primary constituent include Alchornea cordifolia, Sorghum bicolor and Pennisetum glaucum. In order to validate It therapeutic potency, fatty acid, Amino acid and mineral constituents present were determined. This study is aimed at investigating the nutritional component (fatty acids, minerals and amino acids) of Mojeaga herbal remedy. Atomic absorption spectrometers were used for the determination as a standardized method. The results of this present study showed that, Mojeaga herbal product contain high level of fatty acid, Amino acid and mineral nutrients. Linoleic acid was the highest of the fatty acid composition detected, while the lowest fatty acid composition was Eicosatetraeonoic acid. Quantitatively, Linoleic and Oleic contents in the product ranged from 20.8462 to 16.1029 ppm .The amount of eicosatetraenoic acid and Lauric acid was between 1.4 014 and 2.4083ppm respectively. Fatty acids such as stearic acid, palmitic acid were also detected. More than 50 recognized nutrients, encompassing amino acids and fatty acids, along with numerous other chemicals present in food, are believed to influence human health and function. The values obtained from the mineral constituents elicited calcium and magnesium with the highest parts per million (ppm) values. Calcium, the predominant mineral detected in the herbal preparation, plays a pivotal role in skeletal development and maintenance, neuromuscular function, blood clotting, nerve transmission, oocyte activation, and cardiac function. In conclusion this study exhibited the active component of Mojeaga herbal remedy responsible for its therapeutic activities, hence, further study can be proposed for compound elucidation and isolation.
