This research was carried out to examine the Microbial safety assessment of fermented cassava (fufu), of which samples were purchased from five different vendors in Oba markets in Benin City. A total number of fifteen isolates were obtained from five samples gotten from vendors in Oba markets and was analyzed. The five samples analyzed, showed growth. Both bacteriological and mycological assessment were carried out and the presence of both organisms were found to be present in the observed samples. The bacterial isolates obtained from the samples were identified as follows, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas alcaligenes, Shigella boydii. The fungal isolated from the samples were identified as follows, Aspergillus spp, Pencillium spp, Trichoderma spp and Fusarium spp. The bacterial isolate occurring most being Staphylococcus auresus. sample D from Oba market recorded the lowest bacterial mean count of 86±6.4cfu/ml, as compared to a high value of Sample C 123±33.4cfu/ml in Oba market.
