ABSTRACT
This project work centres on the concept of metrics (a class of functions regarded as generalization of the notion of distance) and metric space in the literature. A lot emphasis has been given to motivate the ideas under discussion. Variety of examples with real life applications have been provided to understand and appreciate the beauty of metric spaces. Moreover, the concepts of isometry (i.e., distance preserving functions between metric spaces) and norms on linear spaces are also discussed in detail. Finally, the notion of navigation of flight and quantum mechanics was is discussed.
