ABSTRACT

Addressing the negative effects of drilling fluid disposal is of paramount importance in the oil and gas industry. The improper handling and disposal of drilling fluids can lead to significant environmental and economic consequences, including soil and water contamination, damage to ecosystems, and potential legal liabilities. Over the course of this project, we have explored various measures to mitigate these negative effects and promote more responsible drilling fluid disposal practices. Our investigation has revealed that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to this complex issue. The choice of disposal method depends on several factors, including the type of drilling fluid used, the geological and environmental conditions of the drilling site, and regulatory requirements. However, there are some overarching principles and recommendations that can guide industry stakeholders towards more sustainable and responsible drilling fluid disposal practice.
