ABSTRACTS
This study is based on the Measurement and Analysis of sound pressure level produced by the piano and Compare the sound pressure level measurements obtained from piano with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) standards for piano noise.
The UT353 BT Mini Sound Meter was setup in the ‘Fast Mode’ to correspond to the LPG transfer meter for accurate measurement and data was collected for every five minutes to one hour for both switched ON and OFF in the morning, afternoon, and evening at Christ the King Catholic ChurchIdumowina off Benin-Lagos Road, Benin City, Edo state.
The results showed in the morning as the Maximum and Minimum Values of 103 dB and 84.0 dB when the piano was playing, while 71.2 dB and 50.4 dB when the piano was not playing. For Afternoon, the Maximum and Minimum Values were 87.9dB and 52.1dB when the piano was playing, while 62.3dB and 35.4dB when the piano was not playing. For Evening, the Maximum and Minimum Values were 95.4dB and 70.3dB when the piano was playing, while 70.1dB and 29.9dB when the piano was not playing.
