ABSTRACT

The study has provided insightful findings on the integration of information technology in library environments. It reveals that while traditional methods have not significantly impacted the library's efficiency and resource accessibility, the integration of technologies like OPAC, digital asset management, and ERM could greatly enhance operational efficiency. Digitization and electronic cataloging are highlighted as pivotal for improving storage, retrieval, and research processes. However, challenges such as inadequate funding, resistance to change, and gaps in digital literacy among staff pose significant barriers. Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach, including allocating sufficient funds for technology updates and preservation, and implementing comprehensive training programs for staff in digital literacy and IT systems 62 management. The study underscores the critical role of strategic planning, resource allocation, and staff training in the successful adoption of information technology in libraries, paving the way for a more efficient, accessible, and modern library service at the John Harris Library.
