ABSTRACT

This research work focuses on bringing to light the perception of students of mass communication, University of Benin on the unbundling policy by the National University Commission NUC. The survey method was adopted and the instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. The population of the study according to the current attendance of mass communication students was 1621 students form both the part time and full time program, 321 students were sampled using the Taro Yameni's formula for getting sample size, out of the 321 questionnaire 319 was recovered. Data collected was analyzed in table and simple percentages. According to the research findings the Mass Communication students indeed have a positive view about the new Unbundling policy by the National University Commission NUC. The conclusion of this study is that Mass Communication students welcome the new Unbundling policy by the National University Commission NUC and are ready to begin the programme which is meant to train them in the various aspects of Mass communication. This study therefore recommends that the National University Commission NUC and the various Universities across the nation should endeavor to provide every resource needed for both the Students and their Lecturers to ensure this policy impact as it is meant to be.
