ABSTRACT
Managing employees productivity deficiency in the Nigeria Civil Service has been a major issue in the discus of social researchers today. On this note, this study is specifically focused on managing employees productivity deficiency in the Civil Service using Edo State Ministry of Works as a case study. The study gave insight on the history of the Civil Service and examined various Civil Service reforms in the country. Other aspect of the work captured the core factors responsible for low productivity in the Civil Service. The design of this research study is descriptive and survey in nature. A sample size of 100 was drawn from the population. Simple percentage was used to analyse and verify the research questions raised. Other findings from the interview conducted shows that motivation and monetizing benefits influence employees’ productivity. Finally, based upon the various findings of the research work, the study concluded and recommended among others that the management of the government establishment should expand their promotional techniques to incorporate factors such as fringe benefits, employees welfare, social needs and other motivational techniques geared towards encouraging employees to put in their best which will in turn increase productivity.
