ABSTRACT
This project is aimed at optimizing the current maintenance strategy being carried out on the production critical equipment at Seplat- as means of reducing downtime, cost of maintenance, increasing availability and reliability of the equipment as well as also increase productivity. The method used in this project involves analyzing and evaluating the maintenance strategy carried out in Seplat on their production critical equipment using risk matrix and FMECA analyses. The work is meant to improve the existing maintenance strategy, by developing an Optimized Maintenance Strategy that will be suitable for production critical equipment in Seplat facility. This work proffered solutions that will reduce or completely eliminate the problems of the current maintenance strategy being carried out. This was based on investigations and analyses carried out in the chosen research area and model developed. The results of the research show the Frequency of occurrence, severity, and Detectability of failure of various components of the critical equipment and the maintenance strategy carried out on them. By using data collected we were able to calculate the Risk Priority Number of the Components and also the Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, that captured the need for an Optimized Maintenance Strategy, which we were able to develop a template for.
