ABSTRACT

This project implements an automatic switching technique of load from mains to inverter for a 5KVA inverter system. The circuit automatically switches the load from mains to inverter and from inverter to mains again.

A Microcontroller and TRIAC (Triode of Alternating Current) were employed in achieving a seamless switching circuit. The microcontroller senses signal from mains supply or inverter and sends the signal to the TRIAC which then switches the load from mains to inverter or from inverter to mains.

The switching circuit was designed and a seamless and uninterruptable switching was achieved after simulation, using Proteus Software.

At the completion of the work in line with the circuit diagram on page 40, the project was tested and showed to have performed satisfactory.
