ABSTRACT
The study examined the relationship between local government administration and rural infrastructural development in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. The research adopted a theoretical research method. The study found that local government administration has a significant positive effect on rural infrastructural development in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area. The study also found that the major infrastructural developments in the area were roads, electricity, water supply and health facilities. However, the study revealed that there were still gaps in the provision of these infrastructures, and more effort was needed from the local government administration to improve the situation. The study recommended that the local government administration should prioritise rural infrastructural development by allocating more funds towards it. Also, the local government should involve community members in the planning and implementation of infrastructural projects to ensure their needs are met. The study further recommended that the government should collaborate with development partners and other stakeholders to enhance infrastructural development in rural areas.
