This study was conducted to examine the effect of the implementation of the Local Content policy on value creation in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. Value creation measured indigenous oil firm participation, job creation, entrepreneurial opportunities and development. The study employed cross-sectional research design. A sample of 367 participants was used, and they were selected from a population of 8800 local oil service companies using the systematic sampling technique. Data were collected from the participants through an online survey that lasted for three months, and data analyses were conducted with descriptive statistics and a series of mediation regression analyses on Jamovi and R platforms. The results revealed that local content policies significantly affect indigenous oil firm participation, job creation, entrepreneurial opportunities and development positively, while indigenous oil firm participation partially moderates the relationship between local content policy and the following outcomes (job creation, entrepreneurial opportunities and development). The study concluded that local content policies considerably impact value creation in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. It recommends the improvement of the business climate in the country by the Nigerian government to increase indigenous participation in the industry.
