ABSTRACT

Ninety (90) ditch cutting samples were collected from the Nigerian National Petroleum Development Corporation (NNPC) from a depth of six thousand and forty feet (6040ft) to nine thousand, six hundred feet (9600ft) from AG-1Well located in the Niger Delta Basin of Nigeria. These were processed for sedimentological analysis. A lithostratigraphical chart embracing lithofacies, Formations and Mineralogical composition for the well was generated. Three (3) lithofacies comprising Sandstone, Sandy Shale and Shale were established for the well. Four (4) minerals were identified in the analyzed section of the well and includes, Mica, Iron Oxide, Feldspar and Quartz. The petroleum play elements established in the studied well are one (1) probable reservoir rocks, two (2) potential source rocks, one (1) probable source rock, one (1) potential cap rock, one potential (1) seal and one (1) potential trap. The Formation penetrated by the drill in AG1Well located in the Niger Delta Basin of Nigeria includes the Agbada Formation.
