ABSTRACT
This study explores the linguistic landscape of Auchi, focusing on the major languages spoken, language usage patterns, cultural and social roles of languages, and the influence of urbanization and globalization. The objectives are to analyze language distribution, examine usage across domains, understand cultural significance, and assess shifts due to global forces. The research design involves a survey of 400 participants from diverse backgrounds. Findings reveal Language A as predominant, with varied distribution across Language B, C, and D. Language usage is prominent in family and government domains. Languages hold roles in preserving heritage and fostering community cohesion. Urbanization drives language shift, while globalization influences multilingualism and cultural exchange. Recommendations include language preservation initiatives, cultural awareness campaigns, and policies to balance globalization's impact. This study enriches our understanding of Auchi's linguistic dynamics and underscores the importance of safeguarding cultural and linguistic heritage in the face of evolving global trends.
