ABSTRACT
One of the most prevalent chronic, non-communicable diseases in both children and adults, asthma is marked by a wide range of respiratory symptoms and airflow restriction. With variation in clinical presentation, kind, and degree of airway inflammation and remodelling, asthma is a result of complex gene-environment interactions. The aim of asthma treatment is to minimize exacerbation risk and symptom load in order to achieve effective asthma control. The cornerstone of asthma therapy is a stepwise regimen of anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator medications. According to this work, we provide a clinically focused overview of asthma, Adansonia Digitata plant and their extracts having anticholinergic, antihistaminic, antiasthmatic, and antiallergic effects, assemble data from the literature for the first time on the species, Adansonia Digitata used to treat asthma. Procedures on the induction of asthma on Guinea Pigs will be detailed down, the process of sensitization, the materials and allergens used to illicit asthmatic conditions in the test animals, how the use of the ethanol extract of Adansonia Digitata have affected the level of white blood cells in the blood of test animals, specifically on Neutrophils. Interpretations of statistical results will be made at the end.
