ABSTRACT
This research work is examining legal technology as a viable tool for promoting faster access to justice in the Nigerian legal sector. This is to help bridge the gap of the traditional ways of carrying out justice which could be very slow at times. This research will be relying on doctrinal methodology by reviewing various authors, focusing on the concept of legal technology to increase access to justice and ease of doing legal business. This research is appraising how legal technology is being applied in other countries in which they have benefited from its adoption. It would go further to state some of the benefits that can be enjoyed from the application of legal technology of which it includes increased access to justice, increased efficiency, creation of new legal job, reduced cost for legal services and more. Additionally, it will be pointing out some barriers that may be faced from its application, such as cyber hacking, high cost of technology, lack of infrastructure and more. If these barriers are not addressed, legal technology would not be fully implemented in the Nigerian legal process. This study is also providing recommendations that would ensure its effective adoption and implementation. Overall, the study is stressing that if Nigeria does not adopt legal technology it would be unable to resolve its access to justice issue and lawyers, judges and other stakeholders in the legal sector will continue to carry out their work strenuously and ineffectively.
