ABSTRACT

Gas leaks in pipelines present significant risks to safety, the environment, and public health. Timely detection and localization of gas leaks are essential for mitigating these risks and preventing potential disasters. To address this challenge, a gas leakage detection and localization system has been developed, integrating multiple sensors, microcontrollers, and a GPS module. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the system's design, functionality, effectiveness, and recommendations for further optimization.

The gas leakage detection and localization system comprises several key components, including gas sensors, thermal sensors, an acoustic sensor, a microcontroller, a GPS module, and a user interface. Gas sensors are employed to detect the presence of gas leaks within the pipeline, while thermal sensors measure the level of gas leakage. An acoustic sensor serves as an additional security measure, detecting external impacts or "bangs" on the pipeline. A microcontroller processes signals from the sensors and triggers appropriate responses, such as activating alarms. A GPS module provides precise localization data, enabling rapid response and intervention. A user interface, including an LCD screen and a web application, allows for real-time monitoring, remote data analytics, and visualization.

The system operates by detecting gas leaks through gas sensors, measuring gas leakage levels with thermal sensors, and detecting external impacts with an acoustic sensor. Upon detection of gas leaks or impacts, the system triggers alarms and updates the user interface with relevant information. The GPS module provides precise localization data, facilitating rapid response and intervention. Remote monitoring and data analytics capabilities enable operators to monitor the system's status, analyze data trends, and make informed decisions.
