ABSTRACT
This study surveys some aspect of language used by Politicians in political campaigns/rallies: Edo 2020 Governorship Election as a case study. This study was motivated by the zeal to unveil some political words gained in my active participation of Edo 2020 Governorship Election. The study employs the data collected from the electorates (voters) and political juggernaut as regards the Edo 2020 Governorship Election. The methodology employed is both the qualitative and quantitative one, using J.L. Austin Speech act theory. We however gathered about 27 (twenty-seven) data(s) in the course of this research and their analysis. Different speeches by various political actors were extracted for the purpose of this work. These will further enlighten Readers and Researchers about the travail of what transpired in the political campaign rallies in Edo 2020 Governorship Election, the different Linguistic approach by politicians through their different speech mechanism in the campaign.
