ABSTRACT.

This  study  examines  the  language  attitude  of  the  indigenes  of  Uneme  and  the age-grade  concerned  were  the  Secondary  School  Students  Of  Uneme-Nekhua  in  Akoko –Edo  Local  Government  Area OF  Edo  state. Three  Schools  were  used  for  this  investigation  and  they  include: Akoko-Edo  Grammar  School (AKOGRAM), Ekpedo  Comprehensive  high School  and  Ibode  Grammar  School. The  instrument  used for  the  collection  of  data/responses  was  the  questionnaire ”Likert  Scale  Method ”contained,  in  the  questionnaire  are  research  statements  with  provided  options  for  the  students  to  tick  correctly  after  reading  the  statements .The  responses  gathered  aided  the  analysis  of  the data  and  frequency  tables  were  drawn  using  percentages, results  were  also  presented  with  bar  charts. After  carrying  out  the  analysis,  it  was  discovered  that  the  present attitude  of  the  Uneme  Secondary  School  Students  towards  Uneme  is   equally  positive  and  negative.  Proper  recommendations  were  thus  given  as  to  how  positive  attitude of  the  students  can  be  increased.
